Meredith C. Bruce, CEO & Founder of Page, Page & Associates (PPA), is a 2018 MLS Graduate of the Catholic University of America School of Law. Her studies focused on alternative dispute resolution, real estate and estate planning. Prior to founding PPA, she was an IT Specialist at the Veterans Administration Medical Health Care System in Baltimore, MD. She has continued her IT career at the Washington DC VA Medical Center where she focuses on virtual private networks and account management. Meredith has also served as a volunteer with the Homeless Person Representation Project in Baltimore, MD, where she assisted attorneys in obtaining criminal expungement of records and reassessment of discharge levels for homeless veterans. Upon the success of both campaigns, individuals then became eligible for jobs, housing and/or VA-based healthcare.
Currently Meredith works as a Small Claims Mediator at the Multi-Door Dispute Resolution Division of Superior Court of the District of Columbia. In 2018, she was approved as a Public Representative on the Montgomery County Maryland Commission of Veteran Affairs. And since 2019, Meredith was elected as a Board Member of the National Capital Area Paralegal Association.
Ms. King is the Paralegal Services Administrator in the Washington, D.C. office for the global law firm, Dentons US LLP, supervising the workflow of the paralegal services team members for the Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia offices. She is one of four Paralegal Coordinators that assists the Director of Paralegal Services with various management and administrative duties, including recruiting, hiring and training, encouraging continuing legal education, and promoting efficient and optimal utilization of non-attorney timekeeper professionals for a business services department of over 140 paralegals, case and project assistants, specialist, and government analyst.
She is also a working paralegal and provides assistance to both the Government Contracts, and Litigation Departments. She has over 12 years of experience with working on case teams involved in government contracts counseling for a variety of clients, including those in the information technology, aerospace/defense, homeland security, and risk compliance industries.
She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Bowie State University in 2002. Ms. King has been an active member of the National Capital Area Paralegal Association (NCAPA) since December 2008. She has served as a Board of Director for NCAPA since August of 2013, and in addition to being the Co-Chair for both the Sponsorship and Pro Bono Committees, she has held previous officer positions with the Board as Secretary, First Vice-President, and President-Elect. Ms. King is the current President for NCAPA in 2017.
Sherene McDougall currently works as a Corporate Paralegal in the law department of a major defense contracting company. Ms. McDougall is responsible for managing the company's domestic and foreign subsidiaries, SEC and NYSE routine filings and corporate governance. She has twenty years of legal experience with six of those years as a Paralegal.
She holds a Paralegal Certificate from George Mason University, and is in the process of acquiring the Advanced Paralegal Certificate (also from George Mason) while also seeking a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College.
Ms. Stanley currently works as a Senior Paralegal in the dispute resolution group at Hilton. Within this role she manages employment and personal injury litigation, class action recovery efforts, patent litigation, regulatory matters, and responds to corporate records subpoenas. She has been an active member of NCAPA since August 2010, after joining the legal department of Marriott International, Inc., as a Litigation Paralegal in the Dispute Resolution group. At Marriott, she worked primarily in subpoena compliance for all Marriott managed properties in the Midwestern United States, Europe and with the Marriott Rewards program and later joined the Employment Law group assisting on nationwide class action lawsuits, reviewing contract labor agreements, preparing litigation holds, and responding to employment-related subpoenas.
Prior to joining Marriott, Alana was a Paralegal in the Washington Headquarters Services, Office of General Counsel, which is a Department of Defense field activity headquartered at the Pentagon. Within that position, Alana worked on a variety of matters in various practice fields to include labor and employment, ethics, contract bid protests, FOIA requests and criminal prosecution with Special Assistant United States Attorneys in the Eastern District of Virginia.
Alana received her A.S. degree/Paralegal Certificate from the University of Maryland in 2008 and has been on the Board of NCAPA since 2015. She has held the position of Co-Chair of the Social Media Committee, First Vice-President, member of the Executive Committee and is currently serving as NCAPA's President-Elect.
D.B. “Brandy” Swanson, CP, RP is the NCAPA Treasurer, Certification Ambassador, assists with the JobBank, and always willing to be a Mentor.
Before joining the NCAPA Board, she was active with NCAPA, assisting as a member and Co-Chairing the CLE Committee. Prior to moving to the DC area she was active in the PANH Board in many roles including Treasurer, President, and NFPA Primary Representative. On the national level, Ms. Swanson has served on the Editorial Advisory Board for NFPA and assisted with a membership project.
Ms. Swanson has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Paralegal Studies and nearly completed her Masters in Finance before moving to the DC Area. She has been a paralegal since 1999 and is employed by Foster, Murphy, Altman & Nickel, PC, which practices Patent Litigation before the International Trade Commission.
Ms. Swanson enjoys travelling, cooking, singing, as well as scuba diving and flying with her husband.
